Savory Chicken
Description
This Savory Chicken recipe transforms simple chicken breasts into a flavorful, aromatic dish perfect for weeknight dinners. The chicken is seasoned with a homemade spice blend featuring cumin, cayenne, and thyme, then sautéed until golden brown. It simmers in a savory mixture of beer, garlic, and jalapeños, creating a rich, thick glaze that coats every bite. The result is tender, juicy meat with a subtle kick of heat and deep savory notes.Directions
-
In a small bowl, combine cumin, cayenne pepper, thyme, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and flour to create the spice blend.
-
Pat the chicken pieces dry and toss them with the spice blend until evenly coated. Let sit at room temperature for 20 minutes.
-
Heat butter in a heavy 12-inch skillet over medium heat.
-
Add half of the chicken pieces to the skillet in a single layer. Sauté until golden brown on all sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
-
Remove browned chicken to a plate. Repeat with the remaining chicken, adding more butter or oil if necessary.
-
Drain any excess fat from the pan, leaving about 1 tablespoon of fat.
-
Return all chicken pieces to the pan. Add the chopped garlic and minced jalapeños.
-
Pour in the light beer, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
-
Bring the mixture to a simmer, then cover the skillet and reduce heat to low.
-
Cook for 15 to 18 minutes, stirring occasionally to turn the chicken in the reducing liquid.
-
If the liquid reduces too much before the chicken is done, add a tablespoon of extra beer.
-
Once the chicken is cooked through and the sauce has thickened into a glaze, remove from heat.
-
Toss the chicken to ensure it is well-coated in the glaze before serving.
