Directions

  1. Place 1 cup of squash seeds in a quart jar or a shallow prepared tray.
  2. Cover the seeds with water, using approximately 3 times the volume of water to seeds.
  3. Soak the seeds for 10 hours.
  4. Drain the water thoroughly.
  5. Rinse the seeds twice daily with fresh water, draining completely each time.
  6. Continue rinsing for 2 to 3 days until sprouts reach 1 to 1.5 inches in length.
  7. Harvest the sprouts by picking off any remaining hulls and giving them a final rinse.

Note

Store harvested sprouts in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.

Ensure seeds are fully drained after each rinse to prevent mold growth.

These sprouts can be used raw in salads, blended into smoothies, added to dips, or used as a garnish for baked goods and savory dishes.

For tray sprouting, ensure good airflow and indirect light during the growth phase for greener sprouts.
