These hearty tofu burgers are the perfect solution for a satisfying plant-based meal. By blending firm tofu with a starchy potato and whole wheat flour, we achieve a patty that holds together beautifully while offering a tender, meaty texture. The savory depth comes from a robust mix of nutritional yeast, vegetable bouillon, and soy sauce, creating an umami-rich flavor profile that rivals traditional meat burgers. Topped with a crunchy sesame seed coating, these patties are versatile enough for a quick weeknight dinner or a casual weekend lunch. Serve them warm on buns with your favorite toppings, or enjoy them as a protein-packed side dish. They are easy to make, budget-friendly, and entirely delicious.

Directions
-
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
-
Grind the tofu, potato, and onion (if using) in a food processor until coarse. Do not let the mixture become too fine or smooth.
-
Transfer the mixture to a bowl and mix in the whole wheat flour, nutritional yeast, vegetable bouillon powder, soy sauce, garlic powder, and pepper.
-
Shape the mixture into 6 even burger patties.
-
Coat the patties generously with sesame seeds, pressing lightly so they adhere.
-
Place the patties on a very lightly oiled cookie sheet or baking pan.
-
Bake for 15-20 minutes, turning once halfway through, until golden and firm.
-
Alternatively, you can pan-fry the burgers in a skillet with a little oil until browned on both sides.
Note
For a crispier exterior, ensure the baking sheet is well-oiled and do not overcrowd the pan.
You can add more sesame seeds if you prefer a heavier crunch.
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
