Description

These Crockpot Baked Stuffed Apples are the ultimate comfort food dessert. Tart red apples are hollowed out and filled with a sweet mixture of brown sugar, golden raisins, and bright orange zest, then topped with rich butter. Slow-cooked in their own juices and a splash of orange concentrate, the skins soften while the filling turns into a luscious, caramel-like sauce. The result is a warm, aromatic dish with a perfect balance of sweet and tangy flavors. Ideal for cozy autumn evenings, holiday gatherings, or as a healthy yet indulgent treat for the whole family.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Wash the apples thoroughly. Using an apple corer or a small knife, remove the core and stem from each apple, creating a hollow cavity. Do not peel the apples.
  2. Place the hollowed apples upright in a greased mold or directly in the slow cooker insert.
  3. In a small bowl, mix 2/3 cup of the brown sugar, the raisins, and the grated orange peel. Stuff this mixture into the core cavities of the apples.
  4. Top each stuffed apple with a small pat of soft butter. Sprinkle the remaining brown sugar over the tops of the apples.
  5. Pour the very hot water into the slow cooker around the apples. Sprinkle the orange juice concentrate over the apples and water.
  6. Cover the slow cooker and cook on Low for 3 to 5 hours, or until the apples are tender when pierced with a fork.

Note

For best flavor, use tart apples like Granny Smith or Jonagold to balance the sweetness of the filling.

Serve warm with a dollop of vanilla ice cream or a splash of cream for an extra indulgent treat.

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently in the microwave or slow cooker.
