Description

Transform humble pork chops into a melt-in-your-mouth meal with this effortless slow-cooker classic. The secret lies in browning the meat first to lock in flavor, then letting it braise for hours in a luscious, creamy mushroom sauce. The combination of sage, onion flakes, and condensed soup creates a deeply savory and comforting profile that pairs perfectly with mashed potatoes, rice, or crusty bread. This dish is the epitome of cozy home cooking, requiring minimal active time while delivering maximum satisfaction. Perfect for busy weeknights or chilly evenings when you want a hearty, warm meal without the fuss. The result is incredibly tender meat that falls off the bone, coated in a thick, velvety gravy that captures the essence of rustic comfort food.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Heat a large skillet over high heat. Lightly brown the pork chops on both sides until golden. Season each chop with salt and pepper as it finishes browning.
  2. Transfer the browned pork chops to the crockpot.
  3. Return the skillet to the heat. Add the cream of mushroom soup (undiluted) and dried onion flakes to the hot skillet. Scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan with a wooden spoon.
  4. Pour the soup mixture and pan juices over the pork chops in the crockpot. Sprinkle the sage evenly over the top.
  5. Cover the crockpot and cook on Low for 8 to 10 hours, until the pork is tender.

Note

For a thicker sauce, mix 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of cold water and stir into the cooker during the last 30 minutes of cooking.

You can substitute fresh mushrooms for the cream of mushroom soup for a lighter version, but the texture will be less creamy.

Serve with mashed potatoes, egg noodles, or steamed green beans to soak up the delicious gravy.
