This decadent Chocolate Indulgence bar is a true chocoholic&# 226;ÂÂs dream, featuring a dense, fudgy chocolate base topped with a tangy, creamy sour cream layer. The contrast between the deep, sweet chocolate and the cool, smooth topping creates a complex and satisfying flavor profile. Ingredients

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Butter an 8x8-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large saucepan over low heat, melt the chocolate and butter together, stirring until smooth.
  3. Gradually stir in the powdered sugar and flour, mixing constantly with a wire whisk until fully combined.
  4. Add the egg yolks one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. In a clean bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  7. Gently fold the beaten egg whites into the chocolate mixture.
  8. Pour all but 1 cup of the chocolate mixture into the prepared pan.
  9. In a small bowl, mix the reserved 1 cup of batter with the sour cream.
  10. Spread the sour cream mixture evenly over the top of the chocolate layer in the pan.
  11. Bake for 25 minutes. The center will appear soft and unset; this is normal.
  12. Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
  13. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 to 6 hours, or until firm.
  14. Cut into 1-1/2-inch squares using a hot knife for clean edges.
  15. Garnish with a dollop of whipped cream if desired. Wrap individual pieces and freeze for later enjoyment.
