Ingredients

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, chopped onion, bread crumbs, 3 tablespoons cold water, and 2 large eggs.
  2. Add salt, paprika, prepared mustard, and chopped parsley to the meat mixture and blend thoroughly until well combined.
  3. On a clean surface, flatten the meat mixture into an 8x8 inch square.
  4. Arrange the 3 peeled hard-boiled eggs in a single row down the center of the meat square.
  5. Carefully fold the sides of the meat over the eggs, sealing them inside to form a loaf shape.
  6. Trim any uneven edges and shape the loaf into a neat oval, resembling a flat bread loaf.
  7. Rinse your hands in cold water occasionally to prevent the meat from sticking while shaping.
  8. Cube 2 strips of bacon and cook them in a Dutch oven over medium heat for about 2 minutes until slightly browned.
  9. Add the vegetable oil to the Dutch oven and heat it up.
  10. Place the meatloaf in the Dutch oven and sear on all sides until browned.
  11. Cut the remaining 2 bacon strips in half and arrange them over the top of the meatloaf.
  12. Pour 1 cup of hot beef broth over the meatloaf.
  13. Place the uncovered Dutch oven in a preheated oven and bake for about 45 minutes, brushing occasionally with pan drippings.
  14. Remove the cooked meatloaf to a preheated platter and keep warm.
  15. Pour 1/4 cup of hot water into the hot Dutch oven and scrape up the browned bits from the bottom.
  16. Bring the liquid to a gentle boil, then stir in the cornstarch mixed with 1/4 cup water.
  17. Cook the sauce, stirring constantly, until it becomes bubbly and thick.
  18. Remove from heat and stir in the sour cream until smooth.
  19. Reheat the sauce gently until warm but not boiling.
  20. Season the sauce with additional salt and pepper if desired.
  21. Serve the sauce separately alongside the sliced False Hare.
