Description

These Frank-Kebabs are the ultimate backyard barbecue staple, combining classic comfort food with fresh garden flavors. Juicy all-meat franks are skewered alongside crisp green peppers, juicy cherry tomatoes, and tender potatoes, then brushed with a sticky-sweet barbecue sauce. The high heat of the broiler or grill caramelizes the sauce, creating a delicious glaze that contrasts perfectly with the charred vegetables. This dish is quick to prepare, making it an ideal choice for busy weeknight dinners or casual gatherings with friends and family. Serve them with extra sauce on the side for dipping, and enjoy the smoky, savory taste of summer in every bite.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Bring a pot of water to a boil. Cut the green pepper into 12 equal squares.
  2. Blanch the green pepper squares in the boiling water for 3 minutes, then drain and rinse with cold water.
  3. Cut the onion into 6 wedges. Stem the cherry tomatoes. Drain the canned potatoes.
  4. Cut the all-meat franks into thirds.
  5. Thread the blanched green pepper squares, onion wedges, cherry tomatoes, potato pieces, and frank pieces alternately onto six 12-inch skewers.
  6. Preheat the broiler or grill to high heat.
  7. Brush the assembled skewers generously with barbecue sauce.
  8. Broil or grill the skewers, occasionally basting with more barbecue sauce, until the franks and vegetables are browned and heated through, about 7-8 minutes per side.
  9. Turn the skewers and repeat basting and broiling for the other side, cooking for a total of about 15 minutes.
  10. Remove from heat and serve immediately.

Note

For a vegetarian variation, substitute the all-meat franks with vegan hot dogs or firm tofu cubes.

If using fresh potatoes instead of canned, ensure they are par-boiled until tender before skewering to ensure even cooking.

Watch closely while broiling to prevent the barbecue sauce from burning, as the sugar content can caramelize quickly.

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave.
