Note

For easiest assembly, let the ice cream soften slightly at room temperature for 10-15 minutes before spreading, but do not let it melt completely.

You can use any flavor of ice cream for the two layers; vanilla and chocolate are traditional choices, but strawberry or mint chip also work well.

To prevent ice crystals from forming, wrap the top of the pan tightly with plastic wrap before placing it in the freezer.

Let the dessert sit at room temperature for 5-10 minutes after removing from the freezer to allow for cleaner slicing.

This dessert can be stored in the freezer for up to 2 months. Thaw slightly before serving if stored for longer periods.
