Galatobourekos (Custard Tarts)
Description
Galatobourekos are beloved Greek pastries that combine the delicate crunch of buttery filo dough with a smooth, creamy vanilla custard filling. These small tarts are traditionally served during Easter and Christmas celebrations, offering a perfect balance of sweet richness and textural contrast. The custard, thickened with cornstarch and enriched with eggs and milk, provides a comforting, pudding-like center that contrasts beautifully with the shattering layers of the pastry. Ideal for festive gatherings or as an elegant dessert ending to a family meal, these tarts are dusted with powdered sugar just before serving to enhance their visual appeal and sweetness. While they require some patience to assemble, the result is a sophisticated yet homestyle treat that brings warmth and nostalgia to any table.Ingredients
