Description

This healthy hamburger recipe reimagines the classic American burger with a fresh, lighter twist. Lean ground beef is seasoned with aromatic ginger, garlic, and cilantro, then grilled to perfection. The star of the show is the cool, tangy yogurt sauce blended with crumbled feta and cumin, which pairs beautifully with crisp cucumber slices and lettuce. Its a flavorful, satisfying meal that feels indulgent without the heaviness. Perfect for a summer barbecue, a quick weeknight dinner, or a picnic lunch, this dish brings bright flavors and a clean, fresh taste to your table. Serve on toasted onion rolls for the best experience.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. In a small bowl, combine the plain nonfat yogurt, crumbled feta cheese, and ground cumin.
  2. Blend the mixture with a fork until the cheese is finely crumbled and incorporated.
  3. Cover the yogurt mixture and chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to allow flavors to meld.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the low-fat ground beef, minced green onions, cilantro leaves, crushed garlic, and grated fresh ginger.
  5. Mix the ingredients thoroughly until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
  6. Divide the meat mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a patty.
  7. Heat a non-stick skillet or grill to medium-high heat.
  8. Cook the patties for 6 to 7 minutes on each side, or until the meat is cooked through and juices are no longer pink.
  9. Remove the patties from the heat and drain on paper towels to remove excess grease.
  10. Place a lettuce leaf and 5 thin slices of peeled cucumber on the bottom half of each toasted onion roll.
  11. Top the cucumber with a beef patty.
  12. Spoon 2 tablespoons of the chilled yogurt mixture over each patty.
  13. Complete the sandwich with the remaining half of the onion roll.
