  1. Wash the prunes well.
  2. Cut a slit in each prune, up to the pit.
  3. Put the prunes in a large 2-quart glass jar.
  4. Heat all the other ingredients in a pan, bring to boil.
  5. Remove from heat and wait a minute or two.
  6. Pour into the jar, and cover the prunes.
  7. Close the jar well and leave in a cool dark place (not refrigerated) for two weeks.
