Description

These decadent Kahlua Fudge Brownies combine the deep richness of dark chocolate with the distinctive aroma of coffee liqueur. The result is a dense, moist treat that feels luxurious but comes together with simple ingredients. The batter is loaded with butter, eggs, and sugar, creating a classic fudgy texture, while the addition of walnuts provides a satisfying crunch. Baked until just set, they are finished with a brush of extra Kahlua, enhancing the coffee notes and adding a subtle adult twist. Perfect for holiday gatherings, dessert coffee breaks, or any occasion calling for something sweet and sophisticated. They pair beautifully with a cup of espresso or vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350&# 194;°F (175ðC). Grease a 9-inch square baking pan with butter or non-stick spray.
  2. In a small bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a double boiler or a heatproof bowl over simmering water, melt the butter and unsweetened baking chocolate together, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  4. In a large bowl, beat the eggs and sugar together until the mixture is light in color and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Add the flour mixture, the melted chocolate mixture, and 1/4 cup of the Kahlua to the egg mixture. Blend well until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chopped walnuts gently with a spatula.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  8. Bake for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs (not wet batter).
  9. Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
  10. Once cooled, brush the remaining Kahlua over the top of the brownies. Cut into squares and serve.

Note

The original recipe lists "3 Squares Unsweetened baking" which typically refers to 3 squares (approx. 6 oz total) of unsweetened baking chocolate. Adjust quantity based on the size of your chocolate squares.

For a nut-free version, simply omit the walnuts or replace them with an equal amount of chocolate chips.

Storage: Keep brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for up to a week. The alcohol content helps preserve them slightly longer, but freshness is best within a few days.

To ensure fudgy brownies, do not overbake. The center should still look slightly soft when you remove them from the oven, as they will firm up as they cool.
