Note

Linguiça is a Portuguese smoked sausage with a distinct paprika flavor. It adds a wonderful smokiness to chili. If unavailable, spicy Italian sausage or chorizo are good substitutes.

For a heartier texture, you can leave the potato slices slightly thicker, but ensure they are cut evenly so they cook at the same rate.

This chili tastes even better the next day as the flavors meld together. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

To make this dish vegan, substitute the ground beef and sausage with a plant-based meat alternative or extra beans.
