Ingredients

Directions

  1. Combine the ketchup, Coke or Ginger Ale, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, lemon juice, Mexican oregano, white sugar, and grape jelly in a medium saucepan.
  2. Add the lemon slices to the saucepan mixture.
  3. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring frequently to dissolve the sugar.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and simmer uncovered, stirring occasionally, until the sauce reduces by about half and thickens slightly.
  5. While the base simmers, mix the remaining white sugar, Hungarian sweet paprika, ginger powder, Accent, sage, marjoram, onion powder, garlic powder, coarse black pepper, Durkee lemon-pepper, mace, cumin, and citrus zest in a small bowl.
  6. Stir the dry spice mixture into the simmering sauce base.
  7. Add the white vinegar, additional Coke, and olive oil to the saucepan.
  8. Continue to simmer gently, stirring constantly, until the sauce reaches a thick, syrupy consistency.
  9. Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the margarine until fully melted and incorporated.
  10. Fold in the apple butter until smooth.
  11. Remove the lemon slices from the sauce and discard.
  12. Let the sauce cool to room temperature.
  13. In a small separate bowl, mix the chilled olive oil with the instant orange Jell-O powder until combined.
  14. Gently fold the olive oil and Jell-O mixture into the cooled sauce.
  15. Transfer the sauce to airtight jars or bottles.
  16. Refrigerate until ready to use.
