Each bite-sized ball is then dipped in smooth, melted semi-sweet chocolate, creating a perfect balance of sweet, salty, and rich flavors. They are easy to make with pantry staples and freeze beautifully, making them an excellent choice for holiday gift baskets, party favors, or a simple indulgence on a cozy afternoon.

  2. Stir in the evaporated milk, vanilla extract, and salt; mix well.
  3. Remove the saucepan from heat.
  4. Gradually add 1 1/2 cups of the confectioners' sugar, stirring constantly until the mixture is thick and smooth.

Note

Storage: Store bonbons in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. They can also be frozen for up to 3 months; thaw in the refrigerator before serving to avoid condensation.

Tip: If the dough is too sticky to knead, add a little more sifted confectioners' sugar. If it is too dry, add a drop more evaporated milk.

Variation: You can roll the chocolate-dipped bonbons in crushed peanuts, sprinkles, or coconut for added texture and flavor.

Safety: Ensure the water in the double boiler does not touch the bottom of the top bowl to prevent scorching the chocolate.
