Note
Storage: Store leftover sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. The flavors will continue to meld and improve over time.
Variations: For a spicier kick, add a teaspoon of hot sauce or red pepper flakes during the simmering process.
Tip: This sauce works exceptionally well as a marinade for chicken or pork before grilling, or as a finishing glaze applied during the last few minutes of cooking.
Substitution: If you do not have cider vinegar, apple cider vinegar is a direct substitute. White vinegar can be used in a pinch but will lack the same fruity depth.
