Note
Naranja Agria is traditionally the juice of the Seville orange, which is known for its sour bite and is often used in marmalades.
According to Elisabeth Lambert Ortiz in her "Book of Latin American Cooking," the ratio of one-third lemon or lime juice to two-thirds sweet orange juice is an effective substitute.
Alternative substitution: You can also use 1 teaspoon of cider vinegar mixed with 3 tablespoons of sweet orange juice to mimic the acidity.
Store any unused mixture in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. For best flavor, use fresh-squeezed juices rather than bottled varieties.
