This recipe is optimized for a standard 1.5 or 2-pound bread machine. If making by hand, mix ingredients until a shaggy dough forms, knead for 10-15 minutes until smooth, let rise until doubled in size, shape into a loaf, let rise again, and bake at 375ðF (190ðC) for 30-35 minutes.
The original source mentions using 2 tablespoons of butter instead of applesauce. If you prefer a richer, non-vegan version, you can substitute the applesauce with melted butter or oil.
Store leftover bread in a paper bag or bread box at room temperature for up to 3 days, or freeze slices for longer storage.
If the dough appears too dry during the initial knead, add water 1 tablespoon at a time. If too wet, add bread flour 1 tablespoon at a time.
