  1. Drain the cabbage, reserving the liquid; set the cabbage aside.
  2. Add enough water to the reserved liquid to equal 1-1/3 cups; set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, cook bacon until crisp.
  4. Remove bacon to paper towel to drain.
  5. Discard all but 1 tablespoon of the drippings.
  6. Cook the onion in drippings until tender.
  7. Add apples, vinegar, brown sugar and cloves.
  8. Combine flour with reserved liquid; pour into skillet.
  9. Bring to a boil; cook and stir 1 minute or until thickened.
  10. Stir in cabbage and bacon; heat through.
