Note

For immediate consumption, let the salsa cool to room temperature before serving. It can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

If canning for long-term storage, ladle the hot salsa into clean, hot pint jars, leaving 1/2 inch of headspace. Remove air bubbles, wipe rims, apply lids, and process in a boiling water canner for 20 minutes (adjust time for altitude if necessary).

Adjust the amount of jalapeos or green chiles to control the heat level. Removing seeds from jalapeos reduces spiciness.

Fresh lemon juice provides acidity and helps preserve color. Lime juice can be used as a substitute for a different flavor profile.
