Description

These Chocolate Caramel Pecan Rolls are an indulgent treat featuring soft, fluffy dough filled with melted chocolate and crunchy pecans. They are baked in a rich, sticky caramel sauce made from brown sugar and corn syrup. The result is a warm, tender roll with a perfect balance of sweet, nutty, and buttery flavors, ideal for breakfast or dessert.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 1/2 cups of the sifted flour, sugar, salt, and active dry yeast.
  2. In a small saucepan, heat the water and 2 tablespoons of butter until hot (120-130F).
  3. Add the hot water mixture and the egg to the flour mixture.
  4. Blend at low speed just until ingredients are mixed together.
  5. Increase speed to high and mix for 3 minutes to develop the gluten.
  6. Stir in the remaining flour, one cup at a time, until the dough pulls cleanly away from the sides of the bowl.
  7. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead by hand for about 2 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  8. Roll the dough into a 15x7 inch rectangle on a floured surface.
  9. In a small microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips and 2 tablespoons of butter together; let cool slightly.
  10. Spread the melted chocolate mixture evenly over the rectangle of dough.
  11. Sprinkle the chopped pecans evenly over the chocolate layer.
  12. Starting with the long side, roll the dough up tightly in a jelly-roll fashion.
  13. Cut the log into 12 equal slices.
  14. In a small bowl, combine the topping ingredients: 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup chopped pecans, 1/2 cup softened butter, and 2 tablespoons corn syrup. Mix well.
  15. Spread the topping mixture evenly into the bottom of a greased 13x9 inch baking pan.
  16. Place the dough slices on top of the topping in the pan.
  17. Cover the pan loosely with plastic wrap or a clean towel.
  18. Let the rolls rise in a warm place for 35 to 40 minutes, or until nearly doubled in size.
  19. Preheat oven to 375F (191C). Bake the rolls for 25 to 30 minutes until golden brown.
  20. Immediately turn the rolls out onto a serving platter so the caramel sauce covers the top.
  21. For the glaze, melt 1/3 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips and 1 tablespoon butter in a small saucepan over low heat.
  22. Drizzle the chocolate glaze over the warm rolls before serving.
