Description

Indulge in the ultimate comfort food with this decadent Alfredo sauce featuring crispy bacon. This recipe transforms simple half-and-half into a luxurious, velvety coating that clings perfectly to pasta. The savory depth of smoky bacon pairs beautifully with the sharp tang of Parmesan and the aromatic warmth of fresh garlic. It’s a creamy, satisfying dish that feels like a warm hug in a bowl. Perfect for cozy weeknight dinners or impressing guests with a homemade Italian classic. The texture is smooth and rich, while the bacon adds a delightful crunch that breaks up the creaminess. Ingredients

Directions

  1. Prepare the bacon: Cook bacon until crispy, drain on paper towels, and cut into bite-sized pieces. Set aside.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium-low heat.
  3. Add minced garlic and stir-fry for 2 to 3 minutes until fragrant but not browned.
  4. Stir in the flour until well-blended with the butter and garlic, creating a paste.
  5. Gradually add the half & half, whisking constantly to prevent lumps.
  6. Stir the sauce continuously over medium-low heat. Do not allow the sauce to boil or stick to the bottom of the pan. Reduce heat if necessary.
  7. Allow the sauce to thicken, stirring frequently, for about 20 minutes.
  8. When the sauce reaches the desired creamy consistency, add the grated Parmesan cheese.
  9. Stir gently to melt the cheese completely, cooking for another 2 minutes.
  10. Remove the sauce from heat.
  11. Toss in the cooked bacon pieces and fresh parsley. Mix well to combine.
  12. Serve immediately over cooked pasta.

Note

For a richer, heavier sauce, substitute heavy whipping cream for the half & half.

To make this recipe vegetarian, simply omit the bacon. You can add sautéed mushrooms for extra umami and texture.

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the stove, adding a splash of milk if the sauce has thickened too much.

Adjust the amount of flour if you prefer a thinner or thicker sauce consistency.
