Combine the milk, flour, sugar, salt and butter in a saucepan.

Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens.

Remove the pan from the heat and allow the mixture to cool slightly.

Gradually stir the beaten eggs into the warm mixture.

Return to low heat and cook gently, stirring constantly, until the custard coats the back of a spoon. Do not boil.

Remove from the heat and stir in the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract.

Cool the custard completely.

Freeze in an ice cream freezer according to the manufacturer's instructions.
