Grilled Pork BBQ Ribs
Description
These tender baby back ribs are seasoned with a simple salt and pepper rub, then grilled low and slow until fall-off-the-bone tender. They are basted with a homemade sweet and tangy barbecue sauce made with ketchup, vinegar, and brown sugar. A classic American comfort food perfect for family dinners or summer gatherings.Ingredients
Directions
-
Trim as much fat as possible from the ribs. On the bone side, work a knife tip beneath the membrane that covers the bone until fingertips can be worked beneath the rack membrane, loosening enough to get a firm grip. Peel the membrane off the rack. With a paring knife, scrape any fat away from the bone.
-
Sprinkle ribs on both sides with an even, light coating of salt and pepper.
-
Prepare a grill for indirect cooking over medium heat.
-
Place ribs, bone-side down, on the grill rack. Cover and grill for 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 hours, turning every 15 to 20 minutes, until ribs are tender and no pink remains.
-
While ribs are grilling, prepare the sauce. In a saucepan, combine ketchup, vinegar, brown sugar, onion, garlic, mustard, and hot sauce. Simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add lemon slices and simmer for another 5 minutes. Remove from heat.
-
Baste ribs with apple juice during the first half of the cooking period. For the last 15 minutes of grilling, brush ribs frequently with the prepared barbecue sauce, being careful not to burn them.
-
Remove ribs from the grill and let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Serve with remaining sauce on the side.
