Description

This vibrant Jalapeno Dippin Sauce offers a perfect balance of sweet, tangy, and spicy flavors. Made with fresh jalapenos, New Mexican red peppers, and a touch of fruit pectin for body, it creates a glossy, flavorful condiment that cuts through rich, grilled meats. The vinegar base provides a bright acidity that complements barbecue, ribs, or even grilled vegetables. Quick to simmer and easy to prepare, this sauce is a fantastic addition to any summer cookout or casual dinner. Store in the refrigerator for extended freshness.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. In a heavy 2-quart saucepan, combine the chopped jalapenos, New Mexican red peppers, sugar, and cider vinegar.
  2. Place the saucepan over high heat and bring the mixture to a rolling boil.
  3. Reduce the heat to medium and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes to prevent sticking.

  6. Remove from heat and let the sauce cool to room temperature before serving or storing.

Note

Store the cooled sauce in an airtight jar in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

For a milder sauce, remove the seeds and white membranes from the jalapenos completely. For extra heat, leave some seeds in.

This sauce pairs excellently with grilled ribs, chicken wings, tacos, or as a dipping sauce for fried foods.

Watch the sauce carefully when bringing it back to a boil after adding pectin, as it can foam up quickly.
