It is a perfect weeknight dinner that balances savory, umami-rich flavors with light, fresh herbs. Ideal for families craving authentic Asian cuisine without the fuss.Ingredients
Directions
-
In a small bowl, combine the sliced pork tenderloin, fish sauce, black sweet soy sauce, MSG (if using), and black pepper. Toss until the pork is evenly coated. Let marinate for 5-10 minutes.
-
Heat the vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat.
-
Add the crushed garlic to the hot oil and stir-fry for a few seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
-
Add the marinated pork mixture to the wok. Stir-fry constantly for 5-6 minutes, or until the pork is cooked through and browned.
-
Add the cut green onions to the wok and cook for another 1-2 minutes until slightly tender but still crisp.
-
Remove the stir-fry from the heat and sprinkle with chopped cilantro.
-
Meanwhile, for the clear soup, bring 7 cups of water to a boil in a large saucepan. Add one chicken breast and boil for 15 minutes.
-
Reduce heat to low and simmer the chicken for 1 hour.
-
Remove the chicken breast from the broth. Once cool enough to handle, shred or chop the meat and return it to the broth.
-
Add the sliced bamboo shoots, 1 teaspoon fish sauce, 1/2 teaspoon soy sauce, chopped green onion, MSG (optional), black pepper, and chopped endive leaf to the soup.
-
Simmer the soup for 5 more minutes to combine flavors.
-
Serve the pork stir-fry over hot cooked rice, accompanied by a bowl of the hot clear soup.
