  1. Scrub the clams well.
  2. Put into a kettle with the boiling water,
  3. cover tightly, and steam quickly till the shells are opened.
  4. Remove the clams from the shells and
  5. chop , chopping the hard part finely, leaving the soft part large.
  6. Reserve the clam liquor.
  7. In the meantime, put the potatoes, carrots and celery into a kettle with the cold water and
  8. simmer 15 minutes.

  14. Serve with pilot crackers.
