Description

This decadent ice cream recipe recreates the famous Ben & Jerry's flavor with a creamy base made from unsweetened chocolate, milk, and heavy cream. Ingredients

Directions

  1. Combine the coarsely chopped chocolate, pecans, walnuts and chocolate covered almonds in a bowl,
  2. cover and

  4. Melt the unsweetened chocolate in the top of a double boiler over hot, not boiling water.
  5. Whisk in the milk, a little at a time, and heat, stirring constantly, until smooth.
  6. Remove from the heat and let cool.
  7. Whisk the eggs in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy, 1-2 minutes.
  8. Whisk in the sugar, a little at a time, then continue whisking until completely blended, about 1 minute more.
  9. Add the cream, vanilla and salt and whisk to blend.
  10. Pour the chocolate mixture into the cream mixture and blend.
  11. Cover and refrigerate until cold, about 1-3 hours, depending on your refrigerator.

  15. freeze following the manufacturer's instructions.
