Ingredients

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit (165 degrees Celsius).
  2. Wash the fresh mushrooms thoroughly and trim the ends, then cut them in half.
  3. Place the chicken pieces, halved mushrooms, and whole garlic cloves into a large casserole dish.
  4. Pour the entire bottle of Italian dressing and the white wine over the chicken and mushrooms.
  5. Cover the dish tightly with plastic wrap or foil and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the chicken to marinate.
  6. Remove the dish from the refrigerator and carefully lift out the chicken and mushrooms, setting them aside in a separate bowl.
  7. Measure out exactly 2 cups of the liquid marinade from the casserole dish and set it aside.
  8. Return the marinated chicken and mushrooms to the casserole dish.
  9. In a separate bowl, whisk the reserved 2 cups of marinade together with the cans of chicken gravy until smooth.
  10. Pour the gravy mixture evenly over the chicken and mushrooms in the casserole dish.
  11. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 1 hour and 30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and tender.
  12. Remove the foil and let the casserole rest for 10 minutes before serving.
  13. Serve hot alongside rice, mashed potatoes, or warm biscuits, spooning plenty of gravy over the top.
