Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

Generously grease a 12-cup Bundt pan and coat the inside with the finely chopped almonds.

In a large bowl, beat the sugar and melted butter until light and fluffy.

Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.

Stir in the melted chocolate and almond extract.

In a separate bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, salt and baking powder.

Add the dry ingredients alternately with the milk to the chocolate mixture, mixing on low speed until well blended.
