Soak Grape-Nuts in buttermilk for 10 minutes.

Beat sugar and eggs or substitute together in a large bowl.

Add milk/Grape-Nuts mixture and vanilla.

Sift flour with salt, soda and powder and stir thoroughly into the Grape-Nuts mixture.
