Ingredients

Directions

  1. Soften the cream cheese and shredded sharp cheddar cheese to room temperature for easier mixing.
  2. In a large bowl, blend the cream cheese and cheddar until smooth and well combined.
  3. For the Coventry base, add 2 tablespoons minced parsley, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon Lea & Perrins Worcestershire sauce, and 1/4 cup minced onion to the cheese mixture.
  4. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  5. Shape the mixture into a ball or log, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to firm up.
  6. For Harlequin Cheese Ball, add 2 tablespoons finely diced pimiento, 1 teaspoon prepared brown mustard, and 1 crushed garlic clove to the base cheese mixture.
  7. Shape into a ball and garnish with pimiento stars if desired before chilling.
  8. For Holiday Cheese Ball, add 1 tablespoon caraway seeds to the base cheese mixture.
  9. Shape into a ball and chill.
  10. Once firm, sprinkle ribbons of paprika and chopped parsley around the ball for decoration.
  11. For Fruit and Nut Cheese Ball, add 1 can (8 1/4 ounces) well-drained crushed pineapple and 1/3 cup finely chopped nuts to the base cheese mixture.
  12. Shape into a ball and roll in the remaining 1/3 cup of finely chopped nuts to coat the outside.
  13. Chill until firm before serving with assorted crackers.
