Ingredients

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375ðF (190ðC).
  2. Line a 9-inch square baking pan with aluminum foil, leaving an overhang on opposite sides for easy removal.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs, sugar, and melted margarine or butter until the mixture resembles wet sand.
  4. Press the crumb mixture firmly and evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan to form the crust.
  5. Bake the crust for 8 minutes, then remove from oven and allow to cool completely.
  6. In a heavy saucepan over low heat, melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips with sweetened condensed milk, stirring constantly until smooth.
  7. Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  8. Add the softened cream cheese to the chocolate mixture and stir vigorously until fully blended and smooth.
  9. If using nuts, fold them into the chocolate mixture now.
  10. Pour the chocolate filling over the cooled graham cracker crust and spread evenly.
  11. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until the fudge is firm to the touch.
  12. Use the foil overhang to lift the fudge out of the pan onto a cutting board.
  13. Peel off the foil and cut into squares.
  14. Store covered in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
