Description

This International dessert features Butter, room temperature 2 teaspoon Salt, Sugar Royal icing, recipe follows, Paste food coloring. It delivers smooth, comforting richness, sweet, indulgent flavor. A wonderful way to end any meal, especially on special occasions. Simple to make with ingredients you likely already have on hand, this is a recipe you will come back to again and again.

  1. In an electric mixer, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add eggs and vanilla extract and blend well.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt.
  4. Add dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, beating slowly until well incorporated.
  5. Batter will be sticky.
  6. Turn one-third of the batter at a time onto a piece of plastic
  7. wrap , enclose and
  8. pat into a rectangular
  9. shape .
  10. Chill until firm, at least 3 hours or overnight.
  11. Dough can be frozen for up to 6 months.
  12. Roll dough out I/s-inch thick, one piece at a time, on a floured board with a floured rolling pin.
  13. Dip 2-inch farmyard cookie cutters into flour and cut out shapes.
  14. Place dough on parchment-lined cookie sheets and
  15. bake in a preheated 350' oven for 10 to 12 minutes, or until golden.
  16. Cool cookies on wire racks.
  17. Divide icing into several bowls and tint each portion with desired color.
  18. Fill pastry bags half-full with icings, fit with #2 decorative tips and pipe designs.
  19. Cookies need to set at least 12 hours after decorating before storing in airtight containers.
