Description

Elevate your sandwich game with this hearty Focaccia Turkey Club. This recipe combines crispy bacon, tender sliced turkey, fresh tomato, creamy avocado, and alfalfa sprouts, all nestled between squares of aromatic, garlic-infused focaccia bread. The highlight is the homemade herb mayonnaise, which adds a vibrant, zesty kick that ties the flavors together. Perfect for a satisfying lunch or a light dinner, this sandwich offers a delightful contrast of textures and rich, savory flavors.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crisp.
  2. Drain the bacon on paper towels and set aside.
  3. In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise with minced cilantro and parsley.
  4. Cut each focaccia square in half to create four 8x4-inch rectangles.
  5. Spread half of the herb mayonnaise on top of two of the focaccia halves.
  6. Layer half of the turkey, tomato slices, bacon, avocado, and alfalfa sprouts onto the mayonnaise-covered focaccia.
  7. Spread the remaining mayonnaise on the cut sides of the other two focaccia halves.
  8. Place the remaining focaccia halves on top of the fillings to close the sandwiches.
  9. Cut each sandwich in half or into thirds diagonally.
  10. For the mayonnaise: Combine eggs, lemon juice, mustard, and hot pepper sauce in a blender or food processor.
  11. Blend for 5 to 10 seconds until mixed.
  12. With the blender running, slowly drizzle in the oil in a thin, steady stream through the feed tube.
  13. Continue blending until the mayonnaise is thick and smooth, scraping down the sides as needed.
  14. Season the mayonnaise with salt to taste.
  15. For the focaccia: Allow frozen bread dough to thaw for 2 to 4 hours or overnight in the refrigerator.
  16. Cut the dough in half and roll out each portion into an 8-inch square on a lightly floured surface.
  17. If the dough resists rolling, let it rest for 15 to 30 seconds before continuing.
  18. Place the dough squares into two greased 8-inch square baking pans.
  19. Pierce the dough thoroughly at 1-inch intervals with a fork.
  20. Sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic in olive oil over medium heat until lightly browned.
  21. Stir in the Italian seasoning and brush this mixture evenly over the dough squares.
  22. Let the dough rise in a warm place for 10 minutes.
  23. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 15 to 18 minutes, or until golden brown.
  24. Let the focaccia cool completely before assembling the sandwiches.
