Ingredients

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375ðF (190ðC).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the pork and beans, brown sugar, vinegar, ketchup, and half of the French-fried onions. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
  3. Pour the bean mixture into a 12x8 inch baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  4. Cut the 1 lb of frankfurters into halves or quarters, depending on desired size, and arrange them down the center of the baking dish, gently pressing them slightly into the bean mixture.
  5. Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until the sausages are heated through and the beans are bubbling.
  7. Remove the foil from the dish and sprinkle the remaining French-fried onions evenly over the top.
  8. Return the dish to the oven and bake uncovered for an additional 3 minutes, or until the onions are golden brown and crispy.
  9. Remove from the oven and let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
