Ingredients

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 325&# 194;°F (165°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, stir together graham cracker crumbs, chopped slivered almonds, and sugar.
  3. Stir in melted butter or margarine until the mixture resembles wet sand.
  4. Press the mixture firmly onto the bottom and up the sides of an 8-inch springform pan or round pan with a removable bottom.
  5. In a microwave-safe bowl, place the milk chocolate bar.
  6. Microwave on HIGH for 1 minute, or until melted and smooth when stirred. Set aside.
  7. In a large mixer bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until fluffy and smooth.
  8. In a small bowl, stir together sugar, cocoa powder, and salt.
  9. Blend the sugar mixture into the cream cheese until well combined.
  10. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then add the vanilla extract.
  11. Pour in the melted chocolate and beat just until blended; do not overmix.
  12. Pour the filling into the prepared crust.
  13. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the edges are set but the center still has a slight jiggle.
  14. Remove from oven and place on a wire rack.
  15. Run a thin knife around the edge of the pan to loosen the cake.
  16. Cool completely at room temperature.
  17. Remove the sides of the springform pan.
  18. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight, before serving.
  19. Garnish with whipped cream if desired.
