Ingredients

Directions

  1. Combine flour, salt, and pepper in a plastic bag.
  2. Shake chicken pieces, a few at a time, in the flour mixture to coat evenly.
  3. Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  4. Sauté the chopped onion until tender, then remove from the pan and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, melt the remaining butter and brown the chicken pieces on all sides.
  6. In a small bowl, combine tomato juice, paprika, sugar, and salt.
  7. Pour the tomato mixture over the chicken in the skillet.
  8. Add the bay leaf, chicken broth, and the reserved onions to the skillet.
  9. Cover and simmer for 45 to 60 minutes, or until the chicken is tender.
  10. Remove the chicken to a platter and keep warm.
  11. Reduce the heat to low, remove the bay leaf, and stir in the sour cream.
  12. Heat the sauce through for 2 to 3 minutes, being careful not to let it boil.
  13. Pour the sauce over the chicken and serve immediately with noodles.
