Note
Leaving the tea bags in the water during the cooling process (for the hot method) helps prevent a "tea scum" film from forming on the surface.
Tea contains theophylline, a natural bronchodilator, which may help with breathing problems and colds. Note that instant tea typically does not contain this compound.
For a sweeter tea, add sugar or simple syrup to the hot water before adding the tea bags, stirring until dissolved.
Adjust the number of tea bags based on desired strength: 5 bags for mild, 6-8 bags for strong tea.
You can add lemon slices, mint leaves, or berries to the pitcher for natural flavor infusions.
