Inside-Out Bundt Cake recipe image

This incredibly moist chocolate bundt cake is a showstopper dessert that feels like a guilty pleasure but is surprisingly simple to make. By combining devil’s food cake mix with chocolate instant pudding, you create a batter that is denser and more tender than a standard cake, with a texture reminiscent of a flourless chocolate cake. The addition of chocolate chips throughout ensures every bite is packed with melty chocolate bursts. It’s perfect for holiday gatherings, birthday parties, or any occasion where you need a rich, indulgent treat. The “inside-out” name refers to the intense chocolate flavor that permeates the entire crumb, making it feel as if the frosting is baked right into the cake itself.

Description

This incredibly moist chocolate bundt cake is a showstopper dessert that feels like a guilty pleasure but is surprisingly simple to make. By combining devil's food cake mix with chocolate instant pudding, you create a batter that is denser and more tender than a standard cake, with a texture reminiscent of a flourless chocolate cake. The addition of chocolate chips throughout ensures every bite is packed with melty chocolate bursts. It&# 226;ÂÂs perfect for holiday gatherings, birthday parties, or any occasion where you need a rich, indulgent treat. The "inside-out" name refers to the intense chocolate flavor that permeates the entire crumb, making it feel as if the frosting is baked right into the cake itself.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350ðF (175ðC).
  2. Generously grease and flour a 12-cup Bundt or tube pan, ensuring all crevices are coated to prevent sticking.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the chocolate instant pudding mix, devil's food cake mix, and chocolate chips.
  4. Add the milk and eggs to the dry ingredients.
  5. Mix by hand or with a spoon until the batter is well blended and smooth, about 2 minutes.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared Bundt pan, spreading it evenly.
  7. Bake for 50 to 55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean and the cake springs back when lightly pressed.
  8. Allow the cake to cool in the pan on a wire rack for exactly 15 minutes.
  9. Carefully invert the pan onto the wire rack to remove the cake.
  10. Let the cake cool completely before slicing and serving.

Note

Do not overbake, as this will dry out the cake. The pudding mix helps keep it moist, but it can still become dry if baked too long.

This cake has a very rich chocolate flavor and a dense, moist texture similar to having icing baked inside.

For an extra decadent touch, you can glaze the cooled cake with a simple chocolate ganache or dust with powdered sugar.

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
