Description

This hearty spaghetti sauce combines browned ground beef with a robust blend of canned tomatoes, tomato paste, and tomato sauce for a thick, savory base. The flavor profile is elevated with a classic Italian medley of basil, oregano, thyme, marjoram, and rosemary, balanced by garlic and onion powders. A unique twist involves simmering the sauce with grated Parmesan cheese, which melts into the mixture to create a creamy texture and intense savory depth. Finished with a hint of lemon juice or a dash of Tabasco for brightness, this sauce is perfect for tossing with pasta, topping lasagna, or serving over polenta.

Directions

  1. Drain the fat from the browned ground beef.
  2. In a large pot, combine the drained beef, whole tomatoes with juice, tomato paste, tomato sauce, olive oil, water, basil, salt, pepper, oregano, garlic powder, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, thyme, marjoram, rosemary, bay leaf, and parsley.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low.
  4. Cover and simmer the sauce for 30 minutes.
  5. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese.
  6. Continue simmering uncovered for an additional 15 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
  7. Serve hot over cooked pasta noodles.
