  1. Combine lard and sugar, beating well.
  2. Add eggs and beat well.
  3. Sift together cornmeal, flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture.
  5. Spoon batter into a greased 13 x 9 x 2 baking pan.
  6. Bake at 450 for 25 minutes or until golden brown
