Ingredients

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375ðF (190ðC).
  2. Cook lasagna noodles according to package directions, omitting salt. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, cook the pork sausage over medium heat, stirring to crumble, until browned. Drain excess fat.
  4. Stir the spaghetti sauce into the cooked sausage and set aside.
  5. In a medium bowl, combine the beaten egg, ricotta cheese, parsley, oregano, and parmesan cheese. Stir well to mix.
  6. Spread about 1/2 cup of the meat sauce in a lightly greased 13x9x2-inch baking dish.
  7. Layer half of the cooked noodles over the sauce.
  8. Spread half of the ricotta cheese mixture over the noodles.
  9. Top with one-third of the shredded mozzarella cheese and one-third of the remaining meat sauce.

Note

Allow the lasagna to rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing to help it set and prevent layers from sliding apart.

For best results, use fresh mozzarella if available, or keep pre-shredded cheese in the fridge until ready to use.

You can substitute mild Italian sausage with ground beef or turkey if preferred.

To freeze: Assemble the lasagna but do not bake. Cover tightly with foil and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before baking, adding 10-15 minutes to the cooking time.
