Ingredients
1.5 sirloin tips, cubed
16 canned tomato sauce
1/4 butter, divided
1 chopped
1 rice
1 vermicelli
1.5 hot water
to taste salt
to taste pepper
to taste cinnamon
Directions
1
In a large skillet or Dutch oven, melt 1/2 stick of butter over medium-high heat.
2
Add the cubed sirloin tips and brown them on all sides. Do not crowd the pan; work in batches if necessary.
3
Once browned, add the chopped onion and cook until softened.
4
Pour in the can of tomato sauce. Stir well to combine with the meat and onions.
5
Reduce heat to low, cover, and let the mixture simmer gently for about 1 hour, or until the meat is tender.
6
Season the sauce with salt, pepper, and cinnamon to taste. Adjust seasoning as needed.
7
While the meat simmers, prepare the rice dish. In a separate saucepan, melt 1/4 stick of butter over medium heat.
8
Add the vermicelli and toast it, stirring frequently, until it turns golden brown.
9
Wash the rice thoroughly, then add it to the toasted vermicelli. Mix well to coat the rice with butter.
10
Pour in 1.5 cups of hot water. Stir once, then cover and reduce heat to low.
11
Cook the rice until tender and the water is absorbed, about 15-20 minutes.
12
Serve the Lebanese Sirloin Tips and Sauce over the vermicelli rice.
