Lovebite Weizenbier
Description
Craft your own refreshing Lovebite Weizenbier, a traditional German wheat beer that captures the essence of European brewing. This recipe relies on a blend of light malt extract and wheat extract to create a hazy, golden liquid with a smooth, creamy body. Hallertauer hops provide a delicate, spicy aroma that balances the sweetness of the malt without overpowering the delicate wheat character. Perfect for warm afternoons or pairing with spicy foods, this brew is vegan-friendly and approachable for home brewers. The process involves a simple boil, cooling, and fermentation with specialized Weizenbier yeast to achieve those signature banana and clove notes. Enjoy the satisfaction of serving a cold, frothy glass of homemade beer that rivals your favorite local pub offerings.Ingredients
Directions
-
Combine 3 lbs of light malt extract syrup and 1 oz of Hallertauer hops with 1.5 gallons of water in a large brewing pot.
-
Bring the mixture to a rolling boil and maintain for 1 hour to sterilize the wort and extract hop flavors.
-
Remove from heat and sparge the hops by rinsing them with hot water to extract remaining flavor.
-
Transfer the hot wort to a sanitized fermenter and add enough cold water to reach the desired final volume.
-
Allow the wort to cool to yeast pitching temperature (approx. 68&# 194;°F/20ðC).
-
Pitch the liquid Weizenbier ale yeast (or rehydrated dry ale yeast) into the cooled wort.
-
Seal the fermenter with an airlock and allow the beer to ferment at room temperature.
-
Once primary fermentation slows, bottle the beer with corn sugar for carbonation.
-
Age the bottled beer for at least 2 weeks before serving cold.
