Description

This classic Fantasy Fudge is a beloved holiday treat known for its incredibly smooth, melt-in-your-mouth texture. The combination of evaporated milk, sugar, and margarine creates a soft base that is elevated by rich semi-sweet chocolate chips and fluffy marshmallow creme. It strikes the perfect balance between sweet and chocolatey, making it an irresistible addition to any dessert platter. While traditional recipes often call for butter, margarine works beautifully here, providing a tender crumb. This fudge is easy to make in one pot and sets firmly at room temperature, perfect for gifting or serving at festive gatherings.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Combine sugar, margarine, and evaporated milk in a heavy 2.5-quart saucepan.
  2. Bring mixture to a full rolling boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.
  3. Continue boiling for 5 minutes or until a candy thermometer reaches 234&# 194;°F (112ðC) (soft-ball stage), stirring constantly to prevent scorching.
  4. Remove pan from heat and stir in chocolate chips until completely melted and smooth.
  5. Beat in marshmallow creme, nuts, and vanilla until well blended.
  6. Pour mixture immediately into a greased 9x13-inch pan.
  7. Cool at room temperature until firm, then cut into squares.

Note

Use a candy thermometer for best results to ensure the sugar mixture reaches the correct soft-ball stage (234ðF). If you don't have one, test by dropping a small amount into cold water; it should form a soft ball.

For easier cutting, wrap the cooled fudge in wax paper or plastic wrap and refrigerate for 15 minutes before slicing.

Nuts are optional. If using, walnuts, pecans, or almonds work best. Toast them lightly beforehand for extra flavor.

Store fudge in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks, or freeze for longer storage.
