Description

This Parsley Cheese Ball is a crowd-pleasing appetizer that balances the richness of cream cheese and sharp cheddar with bright herbal notes. The addition of dry sherry and Worcestershire sauce adds depth and complexity, while pitted olives provide a savory pop of flavor. Coated in finely chopped fresh parsley, it offers a beautiful green contrast and a fresh finish. Perfect for holiday parties, potlucks, or casual gatherings, this cheese ball is easy to assemble and tastes even better after chilling. Serve with crisp crackers or sliced rye bread for a satisfying bite.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Place the softened cream cheese and pitted olives into a blender container.
  2. Cover and blend on high speed until the mixture is well combined and smooth.
  3. Add the dry sherry and Worcestershire sauce to the blender.
  4. Cover and blend on high speed again until fully incorporated and smooth.
  5. Add the cubed sharp cheddar cheese, onion salt, garlic salt, and celery salt to the blender.
  6. Cover and blend on high speed until the cheese is fully blended and the mixture is smooth. Stop and scrape down the sides with a rubber spatula if necessary.
  7. Turn the cheese mixture out onto a sheet of plastic wrap or aluminum foil.
  8. Shape the mixture into a compact ball, wrap tightly, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight until firm.
  9. While the cheese ball chills, place the fresh parsley sprigs into the clean blender container.
  10. Cover and blend on medium speed until the parsley is finely chopped.
  11. Transfer the chopped parsley to a shallow dish or plate.
  12. Unwrap the chilled cheese ball and roll it in the chopped parsley until completely coated.
  13. Serve immediately with crackers or small rye bread slices.

Note

For best results, ensure the cream cheese is fully softened before blending to avoid lumps.

If you do not have a blender, you can mix the ingredients in a large bowl with a hand mixer or by hand, though the texture may be slightly less smooth.

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

For a variation, you can substitute the parsley with other fresh herbs like chives, dill, or a mix of herbs.

If the cheese mixture is too soft to shape, refrigerate it for an additional 30 minutes before rolling in the parsley.
