-
In a large bowl, combine 1 cup of the flour, sugar, salt, oregano, and yeast.
-
Add the warm water and softened margarine to the dry ingredients.
-
Beat the mixture for 2 minutes at medium speed using an electric mixer.
-
Add 3/4 cup of the remaining flour; beat at high speed for 2 minutes.
-
Stir in enough of the remaining flour to form a stiff dough.
-
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for 8 to 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
-
Place the dough in a greased bowl and turn to grease the top.
-
Cover the bowl and let the dough rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
-
Punch the dough down to release air bubbles.
-
Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces and shape each into a ball.
-
Cover the dough balls and let them rest for 10 minutes.
-
Roll and stretch each ball into a 5-inch circle.
-
Place the circles on baking sheets greased and sprinkled with cornmeal.
-
Shape the edges of each circle to form a standing rim of dough.
-
Cover and let rise until doubled, about 1 hour.
-
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
-
Bake the crusts for 8 to 10 minutes until lightly golden.
-
Spread each round with 2 tablespoons of pizza sauce, sprinkle with cheese, and add your favorite toppings.
-
Bake for an additional 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
