Ingredients

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (218&# 194;°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together tomato sauce, instant minced onion, oregano leaves, and pepper. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, combine biscuit baking mix and active dry yeast.
  4. Stir in hot water and beat vigorously until the dough cleans the sides of the bowl.
  5. Turn dough out onto a floured board and gently smooth into a ball.
  6. Knead the dough gently 20 times, then let it rest for a few minutes.
  7. Divide the dough into 3 equal parts.
  8. Take one part of the dough and place it in the center of an ungreased cookie sheet.
  9. Roll the dough into an oval shape about 1/4 inch thick.
  10. Pinch the edges to create a raised rim.
  11. Spread 1/3 of the tomato sauce mixture (about 2/3 cup) over the dough, leaving a small border.
  12. Sprinkle with 1/3 of the shredded cheese (about 2/3 cup).
  13. Slice 2 skinless frankfurters crosswise into penny-thick slices.
  14. Arrange the frankfurter slices evenly over the pizza.
  15. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
  16. Repeat the process with the remaining dough, sauce, cheese, and frankfurters to make 2 more pizzas.

Note

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven at 350ðF for 10 minutes to crisp the crust.

For a vegetarian version, omit the frankfurters or substitute with sliced mushrooms or bell peppers.

Ensure the hot water is not boiling, as it may kill the active yeast. Aim for warm water, around 110ðF.

You can use pre-made pizza dough if you prefer a thinner, crispier crust, adjusting baking time accordingly.
